Noticing a good thing
There’s a whole lot of crazy going down in the world today, so maybe it’s good to take a moment to appreciate something that’s not crazy, and is in fact quite beautiful.

This morning was very clear in Seattle, and also quite cold. But that means — as we say in these parts — the mountain is out. Every day when I go to the office on the UW campus, I walk past the Drumheller Fountain. At this time of year, the spouts are turned off, leaving a still reflective surface on such a non-weather day. About half of the basin had a thin crust of ice. Most days there are ducks or geese (or both) in the water, but not today.
This is one reason I like my job.
